Share360 Outlook Sync
1. System Requirements for Share360 Version 2

Before you install, you need to make sure that you have an adequate system to run Share360 Version 2.

  1. Required Environments for Share360 Version 2.

    • A server OS (such as Windows, Linux or FreeBSD) which has TCP/IP networking enabled and which has a static IP address.
    • Web Server - IIS, Apache etc. If you don't have a Web Server, you can install Share360 with the Cybozu Web Server. Each user will access the server from client PC's on a network to use Share360.
    • Client PCs, equipped with Web browsers. Client PCs only need Web browsers, such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. Therefore, you can use Share360 in an environment where different operating systems like Windows, Mac OS, UNIX and FreeBSD co-exist.

  2. Server OS

    Windows

    Compatible with IBM PC-AT-based machines on an Intel or an Intel-compatible CPU.

    • Windows XP Professional/Home
    • Windows 2000 Professional
    • Windows 2000 Server
    • Windows Server 2003 (not Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2)
    • Windows NT Workstation 4.0
    • Windows NT Server 4.0

    Linux

    Linux Kernel Version 2.2x or 2.4x (only on hardware with an Intel or an Intel-compatible CPU) *.

    We recommend the following distributions for Linux:

    • Red Hat Linux 7.1/7.2, 8.0, 9.0
    • Mandrake Linux 9.2
    • SuSE Linux 9.0
    • Turbo Linux
    • UnitedLinux 1.0
    • Debian GNU/Linux 3.0r1

    * Share360 for Linux works only on IBM PC-AT-based machines with an Intel or an Intel-compatible CPU and is not compatible with Cobalt Qube products with a MIPS CPU. Cobalt Qube 3 is fully supported. Before using it, please confirm your hardware/software environment.

    * NFS mounted disk can not accomodate Share360 data (databases) and is not supported.

    * If you have problem setting mail server by domain name, please try the IP address instead. Some of the altest patches may experience a problem with C library linked with Share360 when using domain name.

    FreeBSD 4.X (only on hardware with an Intel or an Intel-compatible CPU) .

    If you have up to 50 users and are running Share360 as an Intranet, any of the operating systems listed above will work, but performance depends heavily on hardware and network environment.

    For offices with 50 users or more, we strongly recommend using the server Windows operating systems (Windows NT Server 4.0 or Windows 2000 Server) or Linux/FreeBSD for better performance. We have experienced limited simultaneous access for groups over 50 using Windows NT Workstation 4.0, Windows 2000 Pro, or Windows XP Pro.

    * NFS mounted disk can not accomodate Share360 data (databases) and is not supported.

  3. Web Server

    You need to install a web server on the server machine to use Share360.

    If you don't already have one of the Web servers listed below, or you don't want to download these, you can use the Cybozu Web Server for Windows, which comes with our product. The Cybozu Web Server will automatically be installed if no active web server is detected during Share360 installation. See FAQs about the Cybozu Web Server.

    Windows

    Linux/FreeBSD

    • Apache 1.3.2 or later (not 2.x series)

    * For detailed specifications, installation settings and operations for Web servers, please refer to your Web Server's manufacturer.

  4. Client PCs: Web browser environments

    Share360 should only be installed on a server machine; you do not need to and should not install anything on client PCs, except for a Web browser.

    Note: Share360 Reminder, Sync for Palm OS(R) or Sync for Pocket PC, can all be installed separately on Windows client machines, but these are optional "add-on" products to the Share360 Suite.

    Share360 can be accessed properly using the following Web browsers.

    • Internet Explorer 6.0 or later (or the most recent version available in your locale's version of Windows) - for security reasons you should always keep your Internet Explorer browser up to date by using "Windows Update" on your computers' "Start" menu.
    • Netscape Navigator 7.x (Netscape 6.2.x is still supported, but there are some display issues with the Share360 interface as of version 2.3) We recommend that you update your browser (which is free!) at http://netscape.com/download/.
    • Mozilla 1.2.X (and for the benefit of the Mozilla project - please keep your Mozilla up to date as well!)

    Note: To utilize Share360 Outlook Sync you will need to use Internet Explorer on a Windows machine with Outlook 2000 or Outlook 2002.

    Note: For the Macintosh, we recommend the latest version of Netscape Navigator instead of Internet Explorer or Safari. Only Netscape 7.2.x is fully supported by Cybozu Corp.

  5. Server/Hardware Environments

    The following are the mininum requirements to run Share360:

    • CPU: Intel Pentium 300 MHz or faster*
    • Memory: 64 M byte or more
    • Hard Disk: 50 M byte or more

    *Windows and Linux versions work only on IBM PC-AT machines with an Intel or an Intel-compatible CPU and is not compatible with Cobalt Qube products with MIPS CPU. (Cobalt Qube 3 is fully supported.) Before using it, please confirm your hardware/software environment.

    Performance Tips

    In order to operate in a comfortable environment, these specifications can be upgraded depending on number of users, etc. The following are recommendations only, and do not necessarily guarantee performance:

    Share360 for up to 50 users:

    • Hard Disk: IDE minimum, IDE(ATA/33) recommended.
    • Memory: 64MB minimum, 128MB recommended.
    • CPU: Pentium compatible 300MHz or faster.

    Share360 for 50 to 150 Users:

    • Hard Disk: IDE(ATA/66) SCSI minimum, IDE (ATA/100) SCSI160 recommended.
    • Memory: 128MB minimum, 256MB recommended.
    • CPU: Pentium compatible 500MHz or faster.

    Share360 for 150 - 200 users (or more):

    • Hard Disk: RAID5 Configuration by Hardware (minimum and recommended).
    • Memory: 256MB (minimum and recommended).
    • CPU: Pentium compatible 1GHz or more.

    Note:

    • Share360 is designed to serve up to 200 users per server. If you have more than 200 users, we recommend you split into multiple servers. We recommend you test Share360 in your actual environment before purchasing a license.
    • We do not define a minimum and recommended CPU since hard disk and memory will impact performance more than CPU.
