Installation of Share360 Sync for Palm OS(R)

The following chapters will give you step-by-step instructions for installing Share360 Sync for Palm OS(R). When completed, you'll be able to sync Share360 Scheduler, Bulletin Board, WebMail, Address Book and ToDo List with your Palm OS-based PDA.

1. System Requirements for Sync for Palm OS(R)

The system requirements for Sync for Palm OS(R) are as follows:

1. Before installation, please prepare the following operation environment:

   • Make sure that Share360 works properly.
   • Install the Palm Desktop software on your PC.
   • You can install Palm Desktop from the CD-ROM that you received with your Palm OS handheld organizer.
   • Please refer to the Palm OS handheld manual for more information on the Palm Desktop software.

   If you have already installed the Palm Desktop software, you should see the icon of HotSync(R) Manager as seen below:

   
   
   

   To connect a client PC to the HotSync cradle, you need to have Windows 98/NT 4.0/2000/XP installed.

   Note: Windows XP is only fully compatible with version 4.0.1 of Palm Desktop.

2. Sync for Palm OS(R) is compatible with versions 3.1 and later of Palm OS.

   We have confirmed that the following handhelds can properly synchronize with Share360:

   Note: You can only use the English version of the Palm OS.

   Hardware	CPU: Pentium 90MHz at minimum
   OS	Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows 98 or Windows 95 - Compatible with Hot Sync(R) Manager
   Memory	32 MB at minimum
   Free Disk Space	15MB at minimum
   HotSync(R) Manager version	HotSync(R) Manager version 3.02 or later
   Others	You need to install Palm Desktop Software before installing Share360™ Sync for Palm OS(R). For installation, please refer to the manual attached to Palm OS handheld organizer. HotSync(R) Manager needs to work properly.

   HotSync(R) is a registered patent of Palm Computing, Inc.

   To make sure that Share360 works properly, please use the latest version of Share360.

   Important Notice: Sync for Palm OS(R) does not support SSL.

2. Download and Install Sync for Palm OS(R)

To download and install Sync for Palm OS(R), follow these steps:

1. Download the Sync for Palm OS(R) Setup program from our Share360 version 1 Download Center.

   If you have already installed a previous version of Sync, please uninstall it first.

2. After downloading the file, double-click it to start the Setup program. To proceed further, you must accept the Software License Agreement.

3. Select a destination folder.

   
   
   

4. Specify the folder where your Palm Desktop software is installed as the destination folder for Sync for Palm OS(R). If you have a Palm-branded PDA, this directory is C:\Palm. If you have a Handspring-branded PDA, this directory is C:\Program Files\Handspring.

3. Register Sync for Palm OS(R) with HotSync\256 Manager

To register Sync for Palm OS(R) with the HotSync(R) Manager so that you can synchronize Share360 applications, follow these steps:

1. After completing the Sync for Palm OS(R) Setup program, you will see the Share360 Sync for Palm OS(R) Registration Tool dialog box. Here you can register Sync for Palm OS(R) with HotSync(R) Manager.

   
   
   

2. Check the boxes of the Share360 applications that you want to synchronize with your Palm OS-based PDA, and then click the OK button.

4. Uninstall and Update Sync for Palm OS(R)

Below are the steps to uninstall and update Sync for Palm OS(R):

1. How to uninstall:

   To uninstall Sync for Palm OS(R), select the Share360 Sync for Palm OS(R) Uninstall shortcut from the Share360 Sync for Palm OS(R) submenu of the Start/Programs menu. Optionally, you can remove Share360 Sync for Palm OS(R) by the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Windows Control Panel.

2. Updating from previous version of Sync to Share360 Sync for Palm OS(R)

   You need to first uninstall your old Sync. After uninstalling older version of Sync, download and install Share360 Sync.

3. Procedure: (for Sync 4)

   [1] Uninstall Sync 4 by choosing: Start > Programs > Cybozu Sync 4 > Cybozu Sync 4 Uninstall.

   [2] Download Share360 Sync for Palm OS(R) and install it.

   [3] Set up the registration code for Share360 Sync for Palm OS(R).

   Note: The page to enter the registration code has changed from previous version of Sync.

   Set up the registration code for Share360 Sync for Palm OS(R) from My Options > Sync for Palm OS > Registration Code in Share360.

   • Note: You need to set up a URL, user name, password, and conduit for Sync for Palm OS(R).

4. For Share360 Sync for Palm OS(R), the default settings of the sync time period have changed from older version of Sync.

   • The default time setting for Sync 3 is "3 Month ago - after 1 year."
   • The default time setting for Sync 4 is "1 Month ago - 3 Month after."
   • The default time setting for Share360 Sync for Palm OS(R) is "1 Month ago - 3 Month after."

   Note that the setting for Sync 4 and Share360 Sync for Palm OS\256 is the same. If you want to use the previous data, please change the time period setting first.

   Since the schedule data that is out of the time period specified here will be deleted from the handheld when you first synchronize with Share360.
