Migration - Windows to UNIX

Can I migrate all files from Office 4 to Share360?

You can use the files that were used in previous versions of Office.

See the Installation > Updates for more detailed information.

Can I change the server, the OS or the Web server?

You can change servers, the server OS, and Web servers running Share360 without informing Cybozu. Also, you don't need to take additional steps or pay any extra fees. Share360 can be used on Windows98/NT/2000/XP or UNIX (Linux/FreeBSD).

How do I transfer Share360 to another server?

Before transferring data, refer to File Directory of Share360.

Perform a backup. To be sure, refer to backup file.

Download the latest version of Share360 in the server in which the data is transferred to.

Install to the new Share360 server.

Transfer files that include Share360 data. Copy all files in the "data" directory of the original server, and overwrite the "data" directory of the new server.

Make sure that no one is accessing the server, (either lock users out or stop the web server). Copy all files in the "file" direcotry of the original server, and overwrite the "file" directory of the new server. If you encouter an access denied error, some files might still be in use by one of your users. Double check the files in "Cabinet" and make sure no one has locked them.

Confirm whether Office runs properly through the new server. Uninstall/delete Share360 in the original server.

After the transfer, sometimes the customized template files are not displayed properly because you may be using slightly different versions of Share360 (if you have downloaded a minor release new version). Please transfer template files between the servers to ensure you are using the same versions of Share360.

With UNIX, owners of the files are sometimes changed during data transfer; therefore, you may not be able to register/change data.

Confirm the "owner" as the user who is operating the web server. Note that the UNIX installer sets up an "owner" for the installed files of Share360. After the transfer, the overwrite installation will set the "owner" automatically.

How do I set up the Web server process owner?

To set up the Web server process owner, follow these steps:

If the Setup program could not find the name of the Web server process owner, you need to specify it.

======= Entering the user name of the web server process owner =======

Enter the user name of the web server process owner, and press Enter. (Normally, it is "nobody".)

(Q: Quit)

User name of the web server process owner :

To locate the name of the Web server process owner, try the following command on another command terminal.

In case the name of web server process is httpd:
(Other name may be used)

# ps aux | grep httpd

(Result)
nobody 9655 0.0 2.2 11112 5760 ? S May27 0:04 ./httpd
:
:

The name listed on the top is the name of the Web server process owner.

In the example above, "nobody" is the name of the Web server process owner. You may find "root" as the user name, too. Do not set up "root" as the name of the Web server process owner.

Where did the Reservation application go?

Reservation in Office 4 or Facilities in Office 3 is no longer a separate component. It's been integrated with Scheduler. For people upgrading, the Reservation information is partially carried over. If a particular Reservation is attached to something in Schedule, then it will show up in Share360; otherwise it will not show up in the new software. This is fairly minor for Office 4 users, but for Office 3 users, the facilities and schedules are not integrated. That means facilities reservations in Office 3 will not be carried over to Share360.

For people who like the Reservation function, no functionality has been lost. Reservations has been fully integrated into Scheduler. Please refer to the Scheduler manual for more details.

Can we integrate Share360 files that are operated separately?

You cannot integrate Share360 files that are operated separately. Each license of Share360 is associated with one set of data. You may migrate from server to server, upgrade your product, or change your OS, but you cannot integrate two sets of data from two Share360 programs.

Why is the date in Whereabouts formatted differently from other dates?

If you migrated from a US to European version, or vice-a-versa, Whereabouts history will display date in your previous format.

This is due to the fact that Whereabout dates are written directly to the database and it does not affect other dates in Share360.
