Security

Since Share360 is a server application, served and monitored internally to your company, security measures are determined by your company policies and capabilities. Here are some basic options:

SSL
Short for Secure Sockets Layer, a SSL is a protocol developed by Netscape for transmitting private documents via the Internet. SSL works by using a public key to encrypt data that's transferred over the SSL connection. Both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer support SSL and many web sites use the protocol to obtain confidential user information, such as credit card numbers. By convention, URLs that require an SSL connection start with https: instead of http:. SSL provides encryption and integrity of communications along with strong authentication using digital certificates.

SSL provides data encryption, server authentication, message integrity, and client authentication for any TCP/IP connection.

With all information going back and fourth between the client and server, the server and browser take longer to process this data. The speed difference may not be noticeable on a single page, but the server's performance could be reduced.
