Updates - Linux
You can change servers, server OS's, and Web servers running Office 4 without informing Cybozu. Also, you don't need to take additional steps or pay any extra fees. Office can be used on Windows98/NT/2000, Solaris, or Linux.
To set up the Web server process owner, follow these steps:
If the Setup program could not find the name of the Web server process owner, you need to specify it.
| ======= Entering the user name of the web server process owner ======= Enter the user name of the web server process owner, and press Enter. (Normally, it is "nobody".) (Q: Quit) User name of the web server process owner : |
To locate the name of the Web server process owner, try the following command on another command terminal.
| In case the name of web server process is httpd: # ps aux | grep httpd (Result) |
The name listed on the top is the name of the Web server process owner.
In the example above, "nobody" is the name of the Web server process owner. You may find "root" as the user name, too. Do not set up "root" as the name of the Web server process owner.
You can update to the current version by using the following procedure:
- Choose Download, Install, and Data conversion.
- Apply a version update.
- Enter the registration code. We have two price lists for updating versions.
Free version update: We will provide a free update to users with a Office 3 license dated 04/01/2001 or after.
Updating Price: We will provide a version update to users with a Office 3 license dated before 04/01/2001.
Any user eligible must complete a request form and send it to us.
You must apply one of these procedures to this situation:
Change the folder name of "C:\InetPub\scripts\cb4" to "cb3".
- Before the change, rename or delete the name of the C:\InetPub\scripts\cb3 folder. However, if you change or delete it, you will not be able to browse the data in Office 3.
- Confirm that you have correctly completed the transfer to Office 4, and rename or delete the folder.
Set up a virtual directory.
- By setting up a virtual directory, you can access Office 4 even if you access "http://(IP address)/scripts/cb3/office.exe?"
- For example: Directory Name: C:\InetPub\scripts\cb4, Alias Name: /scripts/cb3
- If you follow the above set up, even if you enter "http://(IP address)/scripts/cb3/office.exe?" at the URL, you will be connected to office.exe under "C:\InetPub\scripts\cb4".
Use the redirect page.
- When you access Office 3 (http://(IP address)/scripts/cb3/office.exe?), you will be able to browse "C:\InetPub\scripts\cb3\page\index.html". If you replace this file with the file redirect to the Portal or Office 4, (http://(IP address)/scripts/cb4/office.exe? ), you will be automatically linked to the Office 4 Portal. Until you notify all users of the update from Office 3 to Office 4, it might be a good idea to use this function.
The data used in Office 4 cannot be converted to Office 3. Likewise, the data in Office 4 and Office 3 cannot be merged. If you have downloaded Office 4 to try its features, we recommend you install it in a different directory (or a different server machine) from the directory for Office 3. If you purchase Office 4, you can easily migrate your data from Office 3 to Office 4, but not visa versa.
You cannot integrate Office 4 files that are operated separately. Each license of Office 4 is associated with one set of data. You may migrate from server to server, upgrade your product, change your OS, but you cannot integrate two sets of data from two Office 4 programs.
