What is a User?
A User is a registered member of Share360. You may register a maximum number of users equal to the number of User licenses you purchase. (i.e. a 10 user license allows 1-10 registered users). The number of users does not mean simultaneous users.
What is a License?
Share360 comes with a free 60-day trial. When your trial expires, you must purchase a User License for each registered user in your system, in order to continue using Share360 indefinitely. Licenses are sold in User packages of 10, 20, 30, 50, 70, 100 and Unlimited. You must have a license for every registered user that needs access to Share360.
Can I have guest users?
In Share360 version 2, you must purchase a license for every user, including any temporary guests. Since access permissions have been greatly enhanced for Share360 version 2, all users (even temporary guests) must be registered. You can then assign limited access permissions to that user as necessary. Share360 no longer allows any access permissions without being a registered user.
What is a Registration File?
When you purchase your license, you will be sent a Registration File to upload to your system that will unlock the system indefinitely for as many Users Licenses you purchased. This will be uploaded by the Admin in Admin Tools > License > Registration License Settings.
How are the Share360 applications sold?
In Share360 version 2, all applications are sold as a Suite, with the exception of Project, Web Forms, which are sold separately or as part of the Complete Suite.
Share360 Standard Suite
Includes Scheduler, Phone Messages, Time Sheet, Announcements, WebMail, Notes, Address Book, ToDo List, Memos, and Cabinet.Share360 Complete Suite
Includes all applications in the Standard Suite plus Web Forms and Project.Add-On Applications
The following applications are sold separately, and can be purchased in different user denominations than the Standard Suite. These applications cannot, however, be used without the Standard Suite.
- Web Forms
- Project
- Share360 Sync for Palm OS® or Pocket PC
How many User Licenses do I need to purchase?
You will need to purchase one User License for every user you want to be able to use Share360. You must purchase at least the Share360 Standard Suite, as the baseline Share360 product.
If you wish to add on any applications (Web Forms, Project or Sync), you can purchase as many license as you need, provided the number is less than the number of User Licenses you purchased for the Standard Suite.
- You cannot combine separate licenses into one license when counting the number of Users. For example, you cannot register 60 users by purchasing the 50 User and 10 User licenses. You would need to purchase one 70 User License.
- When you purchase Web Forms, Project, Share360 Sync for Palm OS® or Share360 Sync for Pocket PC, these individual applications must be used in conjunction with the Share360 Standard or Complete Suite. They will not function if used independently.
- You may purchase a different number of add-on application licenses (greater or equal to) than the number of Suite licenses purchased. For instance, if you purchase a 100 user license for the Share360 Standard Suite, you may purchase a 10 user license of Web Forms, and a 3-user license of Share360 Sync.
- Share360 Sync for Palm OS® and Sync for Pocket PC licenses are interchangeable. For instance, you can purchase a 10-user Sync license, and you can then use 5 licenses with Palm OS® and 5 licenses with Pocket PC, or 3 licenses with Palm OS® and 7 licenses with Pocket PC. They can be distributed among the operating systems as necessary.
Can I buy and install multiple copies of Share360 on one server machine?
You can install as many copies of Share360 applications as you wish in one server machine by specifying a different install directory per installation. But you must purchase a separate software license for each installation. For example, if you wish to install and administer two copies Share360 for two separate departments of 35 and 40 Users (respectively) within a larger organization, you need to two separate licenses for 50 users.
Also, be aware if two copies of Share360 are installed one server machine, the data of each copy cannot be merged or synchronized.
Can I change my server installation from one platform to another?
Share360 is built to be multi-platform. Accordingly, there is no additional License fee when you switch your server from one platform to another. The price for Windows, Linux and FreeBSD installations are the same. For instance, if you first purchase one license and install it on a WindowsNT server, and later you decide to change the server OS to Linux, you do not have to repurchase the License for Linux. You can use the same license for the Linux server as long as you uninstall Share360 from the NT server and do not use same license for any other servers. You can only have one copy of the software running if you only purchased one license.
Can I change IP addresses?
If you change IP addresses, you will need to request a new Registration File by writing to Contact Form. The registration files are based on the IP address you input when you purchase the license, so it will have to be re-sent if you change IP addresses.
How do I upgrade my User Licenses?
You can upgrade your license in three different ways:
- Increase the number of users
- Upgrade packaged products (i.e. from Share360 Standard to Share360 Complete)
- Update the product version (i.e. from Share360 version 1.x to Share360 version 2)
- All of the above
How much do User Licenses and Upgrades cost?
User Licenses are sold for a one time fee with no maintenance or support charges. If you want to update from an old version to a newer version (i.e. Share360 ver. 1.0 to Share360 ver. 2, for the same number of users), you just pay 20% of the original cost. If you want to upgrade to more users, add-on products, and change versions, you just pay the difference between the old cost and the new cost.
